John 17:21
"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me"
The body of Christ needs to be united to make an impact around them. By their oneness, the sinners and unbelievers can clearly see Christ's life. They must clearly stand upon the true conviction of the Holy Spirit.
Speech, character, and biblical standards of living are all necessary to influence people all over the world. The Bible is complete, it is meant to make any genuine child of God a balanced Christian. It neither favours one nor cast out the other, it was written for all seekers of truth. God's wide arms are for anyone who needs Him. Only this generation of believers is disunited and resentful even to their fellow brethren. What a shame!
So many discrepancies and arguments are found within the Church to date. Where does this come from when we have the word and Spirit to guide us?
(John 14:26 ). Why do we not always take our bearing from Him in all matters?
Does one man believe one thing and another, something else? One takes the word for what it says, and another claims it ought not to be so. Where did all the extra-biblical chapters in the Catholic Bible come from? The worship of stature? Was it practised by our Fathers? This is just to scratch the surface. Where did our women take their pattern of dressing? Did holy women appear naked? Were their dress suggestive? Do we dress to appeal to men or give glory to God? Do we save them when we appear exposed? Are we daughters of Jezebel and yet profess love for Christ? Why is it hard to understand and be led by the Holy Spirit today? The answer is this. We are not true to our convictions. We have silenced the Holy Spirit and we do not seek the Lord's will anymore. We do not seek God anymore. Are we are weary of Him?
'Modernised Christianity' seem to rule the day now and there is no such word as that, for the rugged cross is still old.
Does God change his standard? No.
If we would study the old testament, and see how sin was handled, take the sons of the priest, Aaron for example, it may do much good to our carelessness both in the way we live and relate to others!
What pattern does the Bible show us about the oneness of believers? It fosters the movement of the Spirit. Are we not tired of our unanswered prayers? Church of Christ, Awake!
Pray for the body of Christ.
Shalom
