1 Corinthians 9:27
"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
Our greater enemy is not the Devil but our own Flesh.
It's our Flesh that cannot please God. It only naturally loves whatever is the opposite of godliness. We would always need to lead our flesh away from its natural tendencies in order to do all of God's will concerning our life and purpose.
Our flesh would love to sleep during prayers, bible study or procrastinate.
It's our flesh that's busier than Satan.
Our flesh would postpone preaching God's words, thereby causing a bridge for God to move through us towards the sinners. Our flesh loves to return to its vomit, and try other sinful vices, it shows its excesses and pride at any and every unguarded moment.
Do we still look for an enemy? It is within: anger, pride, laziness, unforgiving spirit, insensitivity and 'the outright sins' come from within. A sense of doubt in God's words as well. "The flesh can tempt us in trying to take us off track and this attempt will continue till our last breath. So we should be prepared.
Is there any of its working in us, it must be put out and under if living by the Spirit will be possible.
May God grant us grace.
Shalom.
