Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; Ecclesiastes 12:1
A Life Plague With Notorious Questions
Why are we here? a question as old as life itself.
Why are there humans on earth, seeing the short time given to all men? Who sets the standard for how we live on earth? If we say the first man failed, who do we look to? What matters in life? What should consume us? Is it a career: to work and earn a living, and what is the purpose? Is it to fill our stomachs; gain wealth; be famous and die – what else; is it to raise a family: what use is that; is it to have friends and help people reach their goals and then die? Again what use is that if a man will live a few years and die(all men will eventually die). Then why the trouble of coming to earth in the first place, of what significance is it? What is it that connects all (these concerns)? What is the centre of all human existence, seeing there are two things common to all men birth and death? Suppose life is just made for the sole aim of living, for the consumption of man alone. In that case, the brevity of it is a poor design if all of life was designed for career, family, friends, fame, wealth, humanitarian services, prominence, pleasure, and the like. If it is for making a name: a man comes and goes, how many records or history can we remember as years roll into infinity; if it is for family, how long can we keep track of the family tree as time grows into eternity? How much history can we keep, how much wealth can we heap, how much of the poor can we help, how many men can we remember, how many pedigrees can we call family if the earth should have no end and it grows big as eternity? Then by common thought measuring its brevity, its design lacks intelligence.
Revelation Of The Human Purpose
But if we shall say, there is one infinite mind. One that sees every depth, height, and dark. One that understands the chaos and makes meaning of it. One that has no time bound; there is no end-to-end time for him. One that stands at the centre of creation and all things, then the design of earth and man and the purpose thereof makes sense. The purpose here is not each man's path but humanity as an entity. That purpose is everything. It is the ingredient that runs saliently and silently through the earth, whether accepted or not. It is that which surfaces and suffices when all of man's faulty path is done away with. It is not fame, money, wealth, family, friends, humanitarian services, education, beauty, power, history, etc. All these will pass with time. Again not all men possess power, not all possess wealth, and not all get an education. Some live two days on earth, some more, some less. It is that which all men can give and requires nothing except a soul. We can live with it in this world and take it in death because the one we give is not cut off by death or time. This of which much has been spoken, which is the singular sensible purpose of humanity is worship.
The singular sensible purpose of humanity is worship.
The Singular Sensible Purpose Of Humanity
Worship is not a call to sing, dance or shout. Though these may be involved, neither is it a form. It is not a gathering, nor is it an emotion. First, worship is a relationship. Then it is admiration towards the Holy. Our whole life can be a “worship” before him, but not until a relationship exists. Worship involves love, devotion, commitment, sacrifice, humility, and total surrender. It begins in time and continues in eternity. It is the one word in which human existence makes sense. In other words, it is the only purposeful existence of man on earth.
